Minister's Message
"The Great Commission" is one of four Holy Commands that our Lord gave us. (The other three are: Love God with all we are, Love one another sacrifically, Be His witnesses.) If He is Lord of our lives, then we will do everything in our power to carry out these commands. As you will remember, the 'Great Commission' is to "go and make disciples", not decisions!
The question is "how do we lead someone to Trust in Christ?". In Acts 8, we find Philip speaking with the treasurer of Ethiopa and leading him to Christ. This story, as do the many others in the New Testament, demonstrates the 'how to' very nicely. So what does this story tell us? First, we need to be sensitive and obedient to God's leading in these matters. God orchestrates evangelistic encounters - Not Us. Secondly, we need to be sensitive to where people are at and what they need. The Ethiopian was reading Scripture and needed someone to explain the meaning of the passage. Third, we need to see this interuption in our lives as a positive opportunity; expecting great things to happen.
Being a successful 'soul winner' is not as difficult as we might fear, if we do things God's way. We will talk more about this, this Sunday.
May each of you have a blessed week! Come check us out this coming Sunday. You will be glad that you did!
